Where I’ve been lately…

Where-I've-Been-Lately

Happy Sunday, I hope you’ve had a lovely weekend. Let me start off by saying that sitting down to write this post feels cathartic in a way, it’s been nearly 3 months since I wrote for myself. I never intended to take a drastic break from blogging, it simply happened because a lot of life was happening.

Since I last posted in June, I thought about blogging a dozen times, but I couldn’t find the right time/mindset to do it. And here’s why (I think): from March-July, I was applying to full-time jobs every.single.day. And that takes a ton of research, writing, editing, and tailoring. In late June, there came a point when I told my boyfriend that I had to get a job soon or I was going to lose my mind in cover letters. Thankfully, I was close.

In mid-July, I received a job offer with a national education nonprofit that is aligned with my beliefs, and I am now a communications & marketing manager for them. I started late in July, and it’s been a fantastic experience thus far – I get to do graphic design, write content, project manage events, collaborate with a smart, talented team – the list goes on. The office is in a gorgeous historic building in the LoDo neighborhood one block from Larimer Square (and two blocks from Cesar’s office!). On top of that, I’ve already gotten to travel to Boise, Idaho and Austin, Texas for work (I’m actually flying back to Boise tomorrow to help support an affiliate event).

Later this month, I’m spending a few days back in NYC for another event I’m project managing and am extending the trip to enjoy NYC as a tourist with my girlfriends – soo excited. I want to visit Color Factory, possibly take a live Peloton ride in the studio (I’d like to hear some of these mantras live IRL!), and eat as much pizza as possible (sorry, Denver, your pizza simply doesn’t compare). Once my work event is complete, I’m staying with my friend, Christina, who is throwing an Alice in Wonderland-themed Halloween party on her rooftop, too. I went thrift shopping yesterday and got pieces to create a festive costume for it, too, that I’m excited about (I LOVE dressing up!).

With so many work activities happening, I didn’t totally stop writing during this time – I did continue to write a monthly article for Life Goals Mag, where I’m a contributor. You can check out my articles here.

Oh, I also traveled to Chicago over Labor Day weekend for my freshman roomie’s wedding. My boyfriend couldn’t come with me, so I invited my sister, Meg, who drove up and was my date! We had a blast and seeing my friend marry her person was soo sweet, I was constantly emotional (such a crier over here) when I saw them so happy together. Loved that weekend trip.

Cesar, Bella, and I also went on our first camping trip! We went to Spruce Grove Campground with my best friend, Heather, her husband, and a bunch of friends. We went on a hike, Bella jumped into the lake and had the time of her life, I ate 5 smores and 2 bratwursts, and then the nighttime chill came. We were NOT adequately prepared for 29 degree weather. #lessonlearned but we did buy a tent and WILL be better prepared next year (during the summer, preferably, lol).

Okay, so that’s where I’ve been lately. Now, I am seriously trying to prioritize getting back into the swing of writing for myself.

Cheers,
xx Marah Elizabeth
