How to Create a Digital Vision Board in Canva

This past week, I’ve been seeing a TON of vision board’s shared (and I even made my own, see this post) and wanted to break down how I approach creating a vision board and give you some tips for how you can create your own digital vision board for free, online, using Canva.

Note: If you’re a more visual learner, you can watch my tutorial in this YouTube video.

My first tip is to start by getting clear on your aspirations for the year ahead. Take some time to reflect on what you want to focus on or achieve in the new year, and write down those intentions. I personally prefer to pick a few keywords to describe my intentions that oftentimes end up posted on my vision board.

Next, digitally gather images and words that represent your goals and aspirations for the year. These can be words identifying how you want to feel, pictures of places you want to visit, experiences you want to have, things you want to own, or qualities you want to cultivate.

You can use free digital platforms like Pinterest and Canva to find graphics and images to use that best represent the intentions you have – so long as they’re used for personal use. I use Canva to do this, and it’s completely free to use. If you don’t have a Canva login, simply sign up for free and then search “vision board” in the search bar to find and choose a design template that you like.

Now, you can arrange your images and words on your digital canvas in a way that feels meaningful and cohesive to you.

You can organize images by theme, color, or any other criteria that resonates with you.

To really make your vision board your own, you can add additional touches to it, such as drawings, stickers, or affirmations. You can also include quotes or mantras that inspire you and remind you of your intentions.

Download and display your vision board in a prominent place where you will see it every day, such as on your phone background or computer or laptop desktop background.

You can also print it out and put it somewhere prominent like on your bedroom wall, next to your workspace. This will keep your intentions top of mind and help you stay focused on your goals and motivated to take action towards achieving them.

Once you’ve created your vision board, keep it somewhere you look at everyday – your laptop desktop background or your phone’s lock screen wallpaper, for example. Here’s mine:

Revisit your vision board periodically throughout the year, like at the end of each quarter, for example, and carve out some time to do some self-reflection about where you’re at with your intentions at this point in time.

By creating a yearly vision board, you can visualize and take action to manifest the life you want to create for yourself. A vision board can serve as a powerful reminder of your intentions and be  a source of inspiration as you work towards your goals throughout the year.

Cheers,

Marah Elizabeth
