Hi loves, and happy Friday! I hope you’re all well. Today, I’m sharing a quick tip for my fellow bloggers who have websites. Over the weekend, I logged into my WordPress account and navigated to my dashboard. When I clicked to go to my website, there was a “Not Secure” icon to the left of my website URL, which I had never seen before:
I was surprised because I thought I had done all of the necessary updates that have happened this past year, but I was wrong! After spending 10 minutes YouTubing and looking at WordPress.org help forums, I was frazzled and still didn’t know what I needed to do to fix my website security.
I decided to reach out to my domain name and website host, Bluehost, via livechat to see if someone from there could help me out. Within a minute, someone was live chatting me, asking what my issue was. When I told the person that my website was saying “Not Secure”, they confirmed the website domain name that I was talking about and then told me to download and activate the Really Simple SSL plugin (a free plugin!):
Within a minute, I had downloaded and installed this plugin. Next, the customer service agent asked me to navigate to my website again, and voila! It now said “Secure”. Problem solved.
This is the second time that I’ve reached out to Bluehost customer service – the first time was when I accidentally deleted most of my photos from my website’s library (read about that snafu here). Both times, I have been more than taken care of and couldn’t be more thankful for Bluehost and it’s wonderful customer service.
If you’re in the market for a domain and website host provider, check out Bluehost (this is an affiliate link) – I can’t recommend this company enough!
Cheers,
Marah Elizabeth
