What I Typically Eat in a Day

Does anyone else get overly curious when it comes to what other people eat? Sometimes when I get stuck in a rut with food I find it so fascinating to ask friends and family for some meal inspo – I love seeing what other people’s go-to meals are.

I thought it would be fun to share some examples of what I typically eat in a day. Read on to find out!

What I eat for breakfast

Throughout the seasons, my breakfast game changes. Right now, I’ve been eating cereal with granola, bananas, and chopped pecans or peanut butter toast with chopped bananas, pecans, and cinnamon sprinkled on top. Another one of my go-to breakfasts is overnight oats, but I haven’t made them in a little while.

Most days, I’m running around NYC visiting entrepreneurship classes and need to stay full for as long as possible, and eating a big breakfast of carbs helps with curbing the temptation to buy food on the go. Honestly, I’ve gone back and forth with loving/hating carbs, but I’ve finally come to the conclusion that I like carbs, and eating them first thing in the morning is the best option for keeping me full. On the weekends, Cesar likes to make omelets or scrambled eggs with veggies, and we often have a homemade smoothie with it (made with almond milk, cinnamon, collagen peptides, spinach, with fruits like bananas, strawberries, blueberries, etc.).

What I have for lunch

Lunch is the most sporadic meal of my day. If I’m at the office, then I usually bring a homemade meal for lunch. Most days, I have some kind of chicken dish; for example, chicken with veggies, a Greek-style chicken bowl with hummus, spinach, and feta, chicken fajitas (no tortillas), and so on – both easy and tasty. When I’m on the go, lunch can be a little harder, it just depends on where I’m at in the city and what food options are around, but I do my best to stick to chicken for lunch.

What I eat for dinner

Y’all, I’m not gonna lie, I am the worst dinner eater. By the time I get home (usually a little past 7pm), I am so done, like I don’t even want to eat, I’m so done. During the week, my appetite is basically non-existent after work. I’m actively trying to change this by snacking every 2.5-3 hours, but my appetite is really wonky after work. It’s a work in progress…Anyway, when I do muster up an appetite, Cesar and I have a variety of go-to meals: we love soups (chicken noodle minus the noodles, meat-free chili), stuffed sweet potatoes, naan pizza, chipotle black bean veggie burgers, just to name a few.

Snacks I eat throughout the day

I’m a snacker through and through. Like I mentioned above, based off of a recommendation from a friend, I’ve started to eat a fistful of food every 2.5-3 hours. My most-loved snacks are trail mix, kind bars, honey roasted cashews, apple slices with peanut or almond butter, hummus with veggies, bananas with peanut butter, two hard boiled eggs, and goat cheese with crackers. I should also mention that I drink a ton of water every day; I typically finish  2-3 glasses of water before I even leave my apartment for work! It’s also really helpful in keeping my hunger at bay.

That’s what I usually eat in a day. Would love to hear what a typical day in your food life looks like for you!
