October Goals

There’s something so special about October, one of the most beloved months of the year. Seeing the beginning of the seasonal transition is always one of my favorite parts about this month, but also the coziness that ensues. I love it, I’m a leggings ‘n boots kind of gal. Today, I’m diving into my October goals and reflecting on last month’s, too.

September Goals in Review

Mind: Meditate for 10 minutes daily to help calm my racing mind
Body: Workout 3-4 days a week to prepare my body for Peru and hiking Machu Picchu
Soul: Engage with and get to know locals and fellow travelers while on vacation in Peru

On average, I think I meditated about 3 days a week, which isn’t what I wanted to do but is the reality. With the beginning of the school year, many times I used my morning commutes to catch up on my work email before actually getting into the office. Not a great best practice. In terms of my body goal, the 2-3 weeks leading up to Peru, I did workout at least 3 days a week to “condition” for the hike, but the week of our vacation, everything was a madhouse and I didn’t workout the week that we left (why is preparing for vacation so time-consuming?!). For the soul goal, I am so thankful for Cesar and his ability to communicate in Spanish with the people in Peru. We basically got a personal driver and tour guide who took us all over the Sacred Valley because of it. We also met some people on holiday from Brazil who were so fun and lighthearted. We followed each other on social media so we can see their Brazilian lives in action.

Overall, this year, it feels like I’m seriously struggling with sticking to my monthly mind-body-soul goals with true fidelity, and I’m trying a new approach – I’m going to save my monthly goals to my phone’s wall paper in order to keep them top of mind more often than not.

October Goals

Mind: Get back into a morning and evening routine by creating a morning and evening routine checklist
Body: Withhold from eating candy out of the candy jar at work
Soul:  Be consistent with our new puppy in terms of routines + training

Can you believe there’s only two months left in 2018? What are you working towards accomplishing with the time we have left in 2018? Share in the comments below.
