May Goals

How in the world is it May already?! The first half of this year has just flown by (I think I’m starting to say that about every year, though). Shout of to my sis, Meg, whose birthday is today! She’s coming to spend her birthday weekend here with me, and I can’t wait for her to get in town! I have quite the itinerary planned out for her visit. EEEK.

Let’s take a peak at the goals I set for April, and see how I did, shall we?

April Goals in Review

  • Wake up at 5:15am on Mondays, Wednesday, and Thursdays to work on my blog.
  • Publish 3 blog posts a week.
  • Read 10 pages of a book before bed (my choice, for pleasure).
  • Tidy up my apartment (think: dusting, sweeping, organizing) each weekend.
  • Finally post all of my clothing up on ebay and poshmark.
  • Donate the books I don’t love/cherish to the library.
I’ve been prioritizing watching Netflix with my boyfriend until 11pm over getting up at 5:15am to write – I blame the intense plot of the Blacklist for this discretion (seriously though, go watch it – you’ll be hooked!). I did start reading each day, but it’s been during my commute to/from work (again, the Blacklist has eaten up all of my nighttime hours). Thankfully, I did get some spring cleaning done each weekend, so my apartment is feeling more refreshed lately. I did find the time to post some of my clothing items up on eBay and Poshmark (check out my listings – there’s more coming soon!). Overall, I was more productive in my personal life than my blog life, if that makes sense.

Now, here we are in May. When I was a teacher, the month of May was kind of hellish (the end of the school year, kids going crazy, a bunch of extra work to finish), and the only way I got through each day was to buy a large Coke in the afternoon and chug the entire thing in like 5 minutes or less. Although I’m not a teacher anymore, I do work at an education non-profit, and we are ramping up into our busy spring/summer season. See, we are hosting weekly business plan coaching sessions for our competition participants, and I will be facilitating the weekly Wednesday evening sessions for the month of May. Overall, it’s a busy, busy bee time of year, to say the least. So what would I like to accomplish this May in particular? Let’s see! (cue It’s gonna be MAY meme of JT…)

May Goals

  • Celebrate 3 years with my love!
  • Play dress up with my sister when she’s in town.
  • Be efficient: make the most of the time that I have to accomplish what I need/want to.
  • Get up when my alarm goes off (no more snooze!).
  • Finish reading “The Lean Startup”.

Who else sets goals? What kinds of goals do you set? I recently read this goal blog post from the Blissful Mind, and it got me thinking about what kinds of goals I’m setting (I really like her mind-body-soul goals theme). I feel like some of my goals are just checkboxes because I know they are going to happen, although I do technically have to make them happen…just writing down all my random thoughts right now, don’t mind me! Anyway, I would love to hear about your current goals + how you goal set. Share with us in the comments below.
