Belize Girl’s Trip Travel Vlog

At the end of January, I had the pleasure of taking a trip to Belize with my friend, Abbie. Back in November, we spent a night at Abbie’s home doing a ton of research on where to go, options for potential resorts, activities to do, and more. We chose Belize because the accommodations were a great value for the price, and neither of us had been there before, either.

Planning the Trip

We booked a roundtrip flight via Southwest traveling from Denver to Houston (layover) and then to Belize City. Once our flights were booked, we had to decide where to stay.

From researching, we knew that we didn’t want to stay in Belize City because it’s more of an industrial hub and not the relaxing vibe we were looking for. Belize has a variety of islands, called “cayes” (pronounced like “keys”), and we had to decide between Ambergris Caye and Caye Caulker. Ultimately, we chose Ambergris Caye because it’s a larger island with more happenings. Pelican Reef Villas is the resort we chose to stay at and is located in the town of San Pedro, which is the southern part of Ambergris Caye. Our resort package included a welcome cocktail, breakfast each day, and access to amenities for free (pool, towels, sunscreen, kayaks, hammocks).

We also purchased a roundtrip travel package from Belize Water Taxi that included a water taxi and a ride from the taxi dock to the resort. Lastly, we reserved a golf cart from Pelican Reef because the staff mentioned that most guests do since the resort is on the southern part of the island, a couple of miles south of the main island center.

Note: It took me a while to learn Premiere Pro editing software, and I know it’s not a perfectly edited video, but I’m happy that it’s out in the world and excited to get better at video editing!

Overall, Abbie and I had a blast, and I’m a million times more grateful to have kicked off 2020 with this trip due to the current state of affairs and shutdown. My guess is that we all come out of this global health pandemic with more wanderlust than ever before.
